David McDwyer has been selected by Aontú to run in the next county council elections.

The Glenties man is the party’s second local election candidate in Donegal, with Mary T Sweeney representing the party in the Letterkenny area.

Mr McDwyer grew up with an interest in politics and holds a degree in International Relations from DCU.

He will run as the party’s Glenties Electoral Representative in 2023.

A spokesperson for the party said: “David brings tremendous enthusiasm, energy and a love of history, politics and our people and I have no doubt he will definitely serve the people of Donegal well.”
