Twenty one more people with Covid-19 have died in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health reports today.
Twelve of those people passed away in the past 24 hours.
The death toll in the region is now 1,240.
The number of new COVID-19 cases has risen sharply in Northern Ireland this week. In the past day, 787 people were diagnosed with the virus.
New travel advice calls on anyone travelling into Northern Ireland from within the Common Travel Area who plans to stay for at least 24 hours to self-isolate on arrival for 10 days.
People who routinely cross the border for essential purposes are not subject to these requirements.
Within Northern Ireland, you can travel to meet your Christmas bubble on one day only between 23 and 27 December. This is to provide some flexibility for those working on Christmas Day.
For the week beginning 26 December, there will be a ‘stay at home curfew’ in place from 8.00 pm to 6.00 am each day, with exceptions only for specifically defined purposes.
