Brothers to bare all in ‘scoot’ for Letterkenny Hospital

Two well-known Redcastle men will be turning heads with a funny fundraiser on New Year’s Day.

Darren and Dean Curran are gearing up for a 14km ‘scoot’ from Muff to Redcastle.

The wheely fun part is that they’ll be braving the wind while dressed in nurses costumes, and riding Peppa Pig scooters!

Darren and Dean planned this daring challenge to raise money for Letterkenny University Hospital in 2021. The duo would have usually done the New Year’s swim, but with the event cancelled, they came up with something they could do themselves – and attract plenty of attention and support.

The Currans have been busy preparing their tiny scooters, and even smaller outfits, for the big day on Friday. Their adventure will kick off from Texaco in Muff at 12pm on New Year’s Day and they will be scooting the whole way to Mc Gowan’s bar in Redcastle. People are being asked to please socially distance if you do come out to cheer them on.

“What could possibly go wrong?,” they said.

“We are hoping that this charity event will bring some brightness to peoples lives in these very difficult and challenging times and to help support the people who are helping all those effected by the current global pandemic.”

Sponsorship cards are also circulating locally.
