Specsavers teams in the Donegal Town and Letterkenny stores are hoping that Ireland’s ultimate ‘Smile Maker’ could be a local.
The search is on this Christmas to find and celebrate the nation’s unsung community heroes – those people who have made us smile during the pandemic.
Anyone whose acts of kindness, charitable endeavours or volunteering efforts could be eligible for being recognised as Ireland’s ultimate smile maker. The winner will receive a money can’t buy prize that’s sure to put a smile on their face – a one to one video call with celebrity father and son duo Martin Kemp and Roman Kemp, plus a €1,000 cash prize and a glasses voucher to spend in store.
The ITV Sunday Best presenters are enjoying helping Specsavers celebrate the positivity and delight that a simple smile can bring. Former Spandau Ballet musician and actor, Martin, says: “This year has been tough for all of us, but there are people throughout the country who are so generous in their commitment to their local community, regardless of whatever personal challenges they might face.
“We’re thrilled to be able to reward these people in our small way and say thank you for their service to making people smile.”
Radio show host and presenter Roman says: “I admire anyone who takes it upon themselves to give back to others. Everyone has faced struggles this year so it’s even more admirable when people put their own to one side, to support and spread a little cheer.
“Dad and I are looking forward to reading about these selfless stories for ourselves and helping select the winners – and hopefully making them smile in return!”
Martin continues: “If you know someone who deserves recognition, visit specsavers.ie/smile-makers to nominate them today. This could be anyone who has gone above and beyond, helping those isolated with a face-to-face visit, organising community events or virtual entertainment, bringing people together to raise morale, or simply being a friendly face in a time of need.”
Visit specsavers.ie/smile-makers for more information and to submit your nomination. Entries close Friday 15 January 2021.
