The Department of Health in Northern Ireland reports another sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.
In the past 24 hours there have been 1,929 new cases of the virus detected.
Nine more people with Covid-19 have died in the region, bringing the death toll to 1,322.
In the past seven days, the Department of Health NI has recorded 8,228 new cases of coronavirus – up from 4,462 in the seven days prior to this week.
Meanwhile, schools in Northern Ireland will remain closed until 11th January in a bid to prevent further spread of the virus. For secondary school Years 8 to 11, remote learning will continue throughout the entire month of January.
