Number of Covid-19 patients rises in Letterkenny

Thirty-eight patients with Covid-19 are being treated at Letterkenny University Hospital, according to the latest HSE report.

The figure has increased from 33 the previous day.

LUH has Ireland’s third highest number of Covid-19 patients, while Beaumont Hospital currently has the highest – with 69 patients with the virus.

Three patients with Covid-19 in Letterkenny are being described as critical and are in intensive care.

As of 8pm last night, there were no critical care beds remaining and 10 general care beds available at the hospital.

Donegal recorded its highest ever jump in new Covid-19 cases, with 150 new detections up to midnight Tuesday 29 December. The 14-Day incidence rate per 100,000 population in Donegal has soared to 520.1, while the national average is also on the rise, at 272.7.
