A FUNDRAISER in memory of a much-loved Burtonport woman designed to raise money for community counselling services is well on the way to the target.

Gemma’s Legacy of Hope is an Association set up to honour the memory of Gemma Boyle, who brought joy and happiness to her family and her community during her lifetime.

After a period of poor mental health Gemma died by suicide in February 2020.

A New Year’s Day plunge was held to help fund an affordable community counselling service for the Rosses and Fintown area.

On Friday, many took the plunge at Maghery, Cruit, and other areas along the west Donegal coast.

They were dips with a difference with each participating individually, rather than the group effort which had been the hope for the organisers.

Others across the world participated.

Donations are being accepted until January 31 and almost €19,000 of the €24,000 target has already been raised.
