Two boys have been injured, one of them seriously, after they crashed a quad in West Donegal this afternoon.

The boys, understood to be aged 12 and 15 years, were on the quad at Keadue Beach around 4.30pm when the accident happened.

The boys were both on the quad when it crashed near the local football pitch.

The emergency services including Bunbeg Coastguard, Gardai and the ambulance services rushed to the scene and the boys were assessed at the scene.

Both were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, one by ambulance and the other by the Rescue 118 helicopter which also responded.

One of the boys is understood to be in a serious condition but the other is understood to have suffered cuts and bruises.

A full investigation has been launched into the cause of the crash.
