Last year was no doubt a tough and challenging year for many and as we embark on a new year, many are considering what the future holds. Perhaps the pandemic has resulted in unemployment and the need to upskill or perhaps it has provided time to consider the next steps in your educational journey.

Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) is here to support you on this journey. Take the next step and join the Virtual Open Evening on Wednesday 13 January from 3 – 7 pm. This event is an opportunity to find out more about the fantastic programmes available on both the Letterkenny and Killybegs campuses for 2021.

Everyone is welcome to join in. Whether you are a mature student, looking to upskill or reskill, an early school leaver with no formal education background, a parent/guardian, a guidance counsellor or professional or a Leaving Certificate student – there is something for everyone!

Academic and support staff will be available to talk you through your options via a ‘live chat’ facility on the evening. There will also be virtual campus tours of both our Letterkenny and Killybegs campuses and videos from each department within LYIT.

Dr. Nigel McKelvey, Head of Online and Flexible Learning at LYIT says; “we are delighted to offer this virtual event here at LYIT. We recognise that people have limited access to our campuses, but this virtual experience will allow you to have your questions answered and to find out about what options are available to you. Online and part-time learning programmes are growing at LYIT and we are seeing more and more mature students and those who wish to upskill or reskill enrolling on programmes”.

A series of informative ‘Live Webinars’ will run throughout the evening including:

  • 4.30 pm CAO Applications Process (Leaving Certificate, mature and further education applicants)
  • 5.00 pm Full-time CAO programmes at LYIT
  • 5.30 pm Student Life at LYIT
  • 6.00 pm The Transition to Third Level Education (for parents)
  • 6.00 pm Online & Part-time Courses, funded/part-funded opportunities at LYIT
  • 6.30 pm Student Services and Supports, HEAR/DARE
  • 6.45 pm Financing your third level journey

Fiona Kelly, LYIT Schools Engagement Officer, commented, “The CAO application deadline is just around the corner, the ‘Live Webinars’ taking place during Open Evening provide prospective students, parents and teachers with the chance to connect with LYIT’s academic and student support staff. Take this chance to connect with the LYIT team ahead of the CAO deadline, we are here to help.”
