Donegal packaging company R.A. Pacáistí Teo. (Rapid Action Packaging – RAP) has received a New Year’s boost after being bought by a major US manufacturer.
ProAmpac, a global leader in flexible packaging, today confirmed the acquisition of Rapid Action Packaging Limited (RAP), an Údarás na Gaeltachta client company located in Gaoth Dobhair Business Park.
The factory, which employs over 200 staff, is set to be expanded further under the deal. Expansion will focus on the production of packaging for ready-to-eat and freshly prepared foods and broadening its sustainable product offering for retail food markets.
The company will change its name to ProAmpac, while staff have been assured there will be minimal changes to the company’s existing policies, procedures and operations.
RAP will maintain all of its operations at its manufacturing facilities in Gaoth Dobhair in the Donegal Gaeltacht and in London. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
With the addition of RAP, following extensive discussions over the last number of years, ProAmpac now has 37 manufacturing sites globally, with nearly 4,800 employees supplying more than 5,000 customers in 90 countries.
