Public Notice: Raphoe Drainage (Flood Relief) Scheme in Co Donegal

ARTERIAL DRAINAGE ACT 1945

RAPHOE DRAINAGE (Flood Relief) SCHEME IN THE COUNTY OF DONEGAL

To all whom it may concern:

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to Section 5 of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, as amended, that we the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, being of the opinion that the execution of flood relief works is expedient in respect of Raphoe town and environs, for the purpose of preventing or substantially reducing the periodical localised flooding of lands in the area have pursuant to Section 4 of that 1945 Act, as amended, prepared a Flood Relief Scheme for the said area.

A copy of the scheme documents, including drawings and an Environmental Impact Assessment Report will be available for general inspection by any person claiming to be interested therein from Tuesday 12th January, to Tuesday 9th February, 2021, at the following locations:

Donegal County Council, County House, The Diamond, Lifford, Co Donegal.
and Cathedral Hall, McBride Street, Raphoe, Co Donegal.

Due to possible ongoing Covid 19 restrictions, opening hours and access arrangements should be checked locally, particularly in relation to Cathedral Hall in Raphoe which is a secondary location.

The Scheme proposals will also be available to view online, via a virtual tour on the Project Website www.raphoefrs.ie.

Submissions can be made on the proposed scheme up to 26th February, 2021. Submissions should be addressed to: Flood Projects Management Services, 52 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2

Submissions will also be accepted via the Project Website or by email to raphoefrs@rpsgroup.com.

The Competent Authority for Decision making is the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
The Minister may make decisions of the following nature with regard to the scheme if the Commissioners subsequently submit the Scheme for Confirmation:

Proceed to construct the scheme as submitted.

Proceed to modify the scheme after considering any observations received and if it appears to the Minister that it is proper to do so and then proceed to construct the scheme as so modified.

Not proceed to construct the scheme.

Representatives from OPW, together with the Scheme’s engineering and environmental consultants’ teams will be available for online meetings to assist the public with their queries on the following dates:

January 12th – 2.00pm to 5.00pm

January 21st – 2.00pm to 8.00pm

January 28th – 2.00pm to 5.00pm

February 4th – 2.00pm to 8.00pm

The Electoral Divisions to which (or to a part of which) the scheme relates are those set out in the Schedule hereto.
