A person driving under the influence of cocaine was halted by gardaí who were carrying out Covid-19 patrols on Monday.

Gardaí were conducting an ‘Operation Fanacht’ patrol in the Convoy area yesterday evening when they observed a vehicle making an attempt to avoid them.

The vehicle was brought to a stop and a drugs test was carried out on the driver, revealing that they had cocaine in their system.

The incident has prompted the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit to issue a public warning: “Please do not ever drive under the influence of drugs/alcohol.”
