GARETH Harkin has left Finn Harps, saying he feels that he was ‘not valued’ by boss Ollie Horgan last season.
Harkin has confirmed that he has parted company with the club he has been with for eight seasons, including the last seven under Horgan.
Harkin became frustrated during a disrupted 2020 season before his return to the side coincided with Harps hitting form.
“I feel my efforts and commitments to the team is not valued by the manager,” Harkin, announcing his departure on Instagram, said.
“That can only be reflected in my involvement last season and so feel its right time to leave and begin a new challenge.
“I have always given 100 per cent every time i have put on the Harps jersey and hope that was evident in my performances.”
Harkin had previously played for Harps in 2011 and returned for the 2014 season.
However, the 33-year-old midfielder has confirmed that he is now moving on.
He wrote: “I would like to thank everyone at @finn_harps_fc over the years for everything they have done for me both on and off the field, had a great time there and many memories made.
“I would like to thank all the fans over the years for your continued support through the good and bad times and your support was great and some great nites we had at finn park.”
Harkin wished Harps well in their efforts to keep Premier Division football in Donegal and vowed to be back at Finn Park as a supporter.
