‘She left footprints all over our hearts’: Little Angels pay tribute to Grace (4)

LITTLE Angels Special School have paid an emotional tribute following the death of four-year-old pupil Grace McHugh.

Grace sadly died on Friday at Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Messages of support had been flooding in with people asked to keep the toddler in their prayers.

On Friday, Grace, a preschool pupil at Little Angels, slipped away.

A daughter of John J and Maria McHugh of Knock, Ballybofey, Grace was much loved.

“From day one we were mad about her……..and her pigtails!” a tribute on Little Angels’ Facebook page said.

“A pupil in our preschool Grace was almost as big as her schoolbag when she came to us after her third birthday just over a year ago.

“Everyone wanted to put her in their pocket and take her home. She settled in very well and had the measure of all the boys in her class.

“She loved music and just before the Christmas break any visit to her classroom was an opportunity to hear her singing along to her favourite tunes.

“She was so clever and was going to be so ready to join her siblings and her cousins in their local national school St Mary’s in Stranorler. All of the photos and videos we have of Grace show her engaging with her tasks, sitting in her seat and waiting for her turn – we were so proud of her!

“We can also see her fun side and like lots of little girls she had lots of hairstyles, loved dressing up and of course as you can see…….she loved chocolate too!”

Little Angels said they were ‘privileged’ to have had Grace – who is also survived by sister Kate and brother Matthew – as a pupil.

They said: “She has left footprints all over our hearts.

“Our hearts are broken but thanks to all of the prayers that have been offered over the past few days and thanks to the strong faith of her family we trust that Grace is in God’s hands and this will console us in our hour of need.”

Grace will be buried following Mass of The Angels at St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon at 12 noon on Wednesday.
