THE funeral details of Strabane woman Marian O’Neill have been confirmed.

The body of the 55-year-old was recovered from the River Foyle yesterday.

A kayaker located the woman’s body at Carrickmore, just outside St Johnston, yesterday afternoon.

The 118 Rescue helicopter, the community rescue service and other emergency services attend the scene.

There were extensive searches for Ms O’Neill after she was reported missing on Monday-week last, having last been seen in the Ballycolman area of Strabane.

The body recovered yesterday has been confirmed as that of Ms O’Neill, late of 7 Alexander Place, Strabane and formerly of Hillcrest, Derry Road, Strabane.

Ms O’Neill was the much-loved mother of Oran and Emmet, beloved partner of Gerry, dearly loved daughter of Martha and the late Michael Devine and sister of Carmel, Hugo, Joe and Sean.

Ms O”Neill will be buried at St Mary’s Cemetery, Melmount following Funeral Mass on Friday morning at 10am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strabane.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the wake and funeral are strictly private to family only.
