Northern Ireland is reporting twelve further Covid-19 deaths today, bringing the death toll to 1,704.
Another 865 people have tested positive for the virus in the region.
There have been 5,534 new cases of the virus in Northern Ireland in the past week, down from 7,606 the previous week.
Northern Irish hospitals are currently dealing with 828 Covid-19 inpatients, including 72 patients in intensive care.
The latest figures come as Northern Ireland enters an extended lockdown. The current measures, which were put into place on 26th December, will continue until 5th March. However, Health Minister Robin Swann has said it would be unrealistic to think that all restrictions can be lifted in six weeks’ time.
