Gardai have issued a warning to drivers to be extra careful on the roads with heavy falls of sleet and snow in some places.
A number of parts of the county have been covered in the past couple of hours, especially on higher ground.
Temperatures are set to remain low over the weekend with further forecasts of sleet, ice and snow.
