Overnight flood risks as weather warning issued for Donegal

Donegal residents are being advised to prepare for heavy rain and possible flooding this Wednesday night.

Met Eireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Westmeath and Meath from 6pm.

The alert will be in place until 6am Thursday morning.

There will be a risk of spot flooding due to persistent heavy rain, and possibly thundery downpours.

AA Roadwatch is warning motorists to be extra cautious: “It takes longer to stop on wet roads, so slow down. Never drive through standing water unless you’re certain it’s not too deep for your vehicle.”

The rain will clear early tomorrow to give a mix of sunny spells and isolated showers for the afternoon.
