The number of patients being treated for Covid-19 in Letterkenny University Hospital has reduced again to 83.
There were 83 patients with the virus being treated at LUH last night, down from 109 on Monday.
Seven patients were recorded as critical.
Letterkenny University Hospital is currently operating with zero critical care beds available. The HSE reports there are eleven general care beds available onsite.
Covid-19 cases in hospitals are beginning to decrease nationwide. On Wednesday, coronavirus patient numbers decreased to 1598 by 8pm.
Speaking yesterday, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan pleaded with people to continue to work towards reducing incidence of disease and preventing further hospitalisations and deaths.
He said: “”The current 14 day incidence remains more than double the peak incidence experienced during previous Level 5 measures in October. Therefore, now is not the time to drop your guard and start to interact with people outside your household. The risk of transmission in the community remains very high. “
