Motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads this Sunday morning due to a risk of ice.
A Status Yellow Snow/Ice Warning is in place for Donegal until 6pm. Today will be cold, with rain, sleet and snow spreading northwards, becoming widespread by around midday. Some snow accumulations are possible, Met Eireann has warned. Wintry falls are set to persist through the evening.
The advice from AA Roadwatch today is: “Remember, it can take up to ten times longer to stop a vehicle on icy roads. Slow down, avoid harsh manoeuvres and keep well back from whoever’s in front.”
Donegal County Council has dispatched gritters to all main routes from 6am.
