Fanad will be in the spotlight this St Patrick’s Day during a special concert connecting Irish people worldwide.

Talented local singer/musician Kelli McGrory will be performing live from Fanad Lighthouse for a virtual concert in aid of Safe Home Ireland.

The event will feature performers contributing from iconic landmarks around the world, including Perth, London, Dublin, Ashford Castle in Mayo and Connemara. The concert will be broadcast free on Facebook live on Safe Home Ireland.

Funds raised from viewer donations will support Safe Home Ireland emigrant support service. The Mayo based charity helps people realise their desire to live in Ireland after spending many years of their lives living abroad.

Looking ahead to St. Patrick’s Day, Kelli told Donegal Daily she is delighted to be involved and is really looking forward to the event.

“I think it’s hugely important to raise awareness about the work that the Safe Home Ireland charity does,” Kelli said.

“As well as this, we have the opportunity to showcase the beauty of our country and in particular, the stunning landscapes here in Fanad. I’m sure it will also give comfort to those watching away from home and hope to those planning a return.”

Safe Home Ireland is set to announce more acts on the line-up in the coming weeks. This event will also mark the launch of the charity’s 21st Anniversary birthday and fundraising drive to raise €21,000 in 2021.

“Everyone wants to be Irish on St. Patrick’s day and particularly for the Irish abroad, including those of Irish descent, it is a day to be proud of our heritage and being part of a global family,” organisers said.

To see the concert on March 17th, make sure to follow Safe Home Ireland on Facebook or to support the charity visit: safehomeireland.com/support-our-work
