DONEGAL County Council gritters will be dispatched at 5pm with temperatures expected to plummet as low as -4C tonight.
The Council says that all main routes in the county will be gritted.
Tonight’s forecast from Met Éireann says: “Tonight will be very cold with a widespread sharp to severe frost and icy stretches. It will be mostly dry with clear spells, though there will be showers of sleet or snow at times.
“It will become breezy as fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds develop. Lowest temperatures of -4 to -1 degrees.”
Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
Donegal County Council say: ‘Assume no road is ice free’.
