The Taoiseach will not be travelling to the US this Saint Patrick’s Day, it has been confirmed.
Micheál Martin is now expected to hold a virtual meeting with President Joe Biden on March 17th.
International travel and an in-person meeting with President Joe Biden has been deemed as not possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesperson for the Taoiseach said officials in Washington and in Dublin are working together on plans to mark the day.
The announcement follows much speculation on whether Mr Martin would travel to the States at a time when international travel is not advised. Earlier this week Mr Martin said he would be prepared to get the Covid-19 vaccine and travel to the White House if invited.
