A DONEGAL County Councillor says that urgent drainage works are required on one of he county’s busiest roads.

Letterkenny-Milford MD Mayor, Councllor Donal Coyle has asked that the Council request Transport Infrastructure Ireland to carry out drainage world on the N14, the main Letterkenny-Lifford road.

Cllr Coyle says that a stretch of the road, at Mondooey Lower, Manorcunningham. is regularly affected by fooding.

“This is a very busy road and when there is heavy rain, it’s not just the side of road, affected, but the whole road is flooded right across,” he said.

“It’s not just a pool of water – it’s a long stretch of road where water gathers.

“It’s a matter of ensuring that the drains are cleared and I welcome that the Council will contact TII to have these works carried out.”

The Council said it will apply for funding from the TII to carryout the necessary improvements.
