Troubling scenes are emerging from Dublin City Centre this afternoon as gardaí attempt to control an anti-lockdown protest.
Footage has emerged of a device, which appears to be a firework, being launched at gardaí on Grafton Street.
Other items were also fired at gardaí as they clashed with crowds on the shopping street.
A demonstration against Covid-19 restrictions was originally scheduled to take place on St Stephen’s Green at 2pm. The park was closed as part of a policing plan for the city centre this afternoon.
“A number of traffic diversions and other policing plans are currently in place. Those who are conducting their essential journeys may meet obstructions on their journey and will need to avail of diversions,” said a statement from An Garda Síochána.
