Grainne’s charity skate is a comedy hit!

Donegal woman Grainne Gallanagh raised both funds and spirits on International Women’s Day by completing a charity challenge in a hilarious fashion.

The Buncrana nurse and model set out to skate one mile along the Buncrana Shore Walk to raise money for the Donegal Women’s Centre.

But there was a slight problem.

Grainne, a novice rollerblader, had never left the driveway of her house before Monday.

Her attempt to skate a mile was full of trips and tumbles – and every moment was caught on camera for Instagram entertainment.

The 26-year-old’s bumps and bruises were not in vain. Her social media followers enjoyed laughing at her attempt so much that they rushed to donate to her GoFundMe campaign: https://gofund.me/c9e47adf

Almost €2,000 has been raised so far in support of the important services of the Donegal Women’s Centre and the Ilash Clinic.

“A donation was worth the entertainment I got from your Insta stories, tooooo funny,” said one supporter.

Other people said: “The comedy alone was worth it. Well done!!”

“When I saw what you went through on that mile Gráinne, I had to donate something!!”

Grainne took on the calamitous challenge with good humour, and thanked everyone who enjoyed and supported her skate.

“Thanks so much for all your lovely comments, messages, donations to the Donegal Women’s Centre (a thoroughly deserving charity that do so much for women- and link is still in my bio for anyone that would like to donate) and thanks to the camera crew Gemma Gallanagh and Orlaith Masterson for the lols and helping pick me up when I was down (Did they though?) – what a fabulous women’s day.”
