SIXTY-SEVEN new cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in Donegal – marking a significant increase for the county.
Donegal has Ireland’s second highest jump in cases in today’s report from NPHET.
This is the highest increase in cases in Donegal since the third wave on 22nd January.
Two more Covid-19 deaths and 769 new cases were confirmed nationwide.
The latest jump has caused the 14-day incidence rate in Donegal to increase to 211.7 per 100,000, with 337 new cases recorded in the county in the past two weeks.
As of 8am today, there are 360 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals, of which 82 are in ICU. There have been 19 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
Letterkenny University Hospital reported five Covid-19 patients on site yesterday, with two people with the virus recorded in intensive care.
Of the cases notified to NPHET today:
- 381 are men and 378 are women
- 75% are under 45 years of age
- the median age is 32 years old
- 284 in Dublin, 67 in Donegal, 47 in Offaly, 45 in Meath, 44 in Kildare, and the remaining 282 cases are spread across 20 other counties
