Breaking: Twenty-seven new Covid-19 cases in Donegal, 24 deaths nationally

THERE have been another 27 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Donegal this evening.

The number is the third highest daily figure today behind Dublin (151) and Offaly (31).

Nationally, 24 further Covid-19 related deaths were confirmed.

Another 371 cases of the coronavirus were detected within the last 24 hours, health officials have said.

Today’s 27 new cases mean that there have been 347 cases in the last two weeks in Donegal, where the 14-day incidence rate is now 218 – higher than the national average of 158.3.

Since the outbreak, there have now been 4,610 deaths and 231,484 confirmed cases.

Of the cases notified today: 183 are men and 187 are women; 75 per cent are under 45 years of age; the median age is 30 years old.

As of 8am today, 357 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 76 are in ICU. There have been 25 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Saturday (20 March), there have been 675,946 doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered in Ireland: 492,106 people have received their first dose; 183,840 people have received their second dose
