Works progressing on water issues in Manorcunningham

It is hoped that a solution is in sight for regular water issues occurring near Manorcunningham.

The areas of Rossbracken and Pluck have been hit with several water outages in recent months, even on Christmas Day. The area is supplied with AC trunk mains which are expiring.

Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly has welcomed an update from Irish Water which said some diversion has been placed in the water network to minimise further disruptions.

Residents south of Manorcunningham had previously been supplied from a distribution main running south from Errity/Raymoghy, townlands across the N14 to Pluck, Labbadish and Corkey.

Irish Water has redirected flow so it is now supplied via an alternative main running east to west along the N14 from Drumoghill.

As mains are isolated to complete the repair, households are likely to experience interruptions.

Irish Water said it is currently investigating the increased burst rates in the area and looking at operational solutions to reduce the frequency of bursts.

“I have written to Irish Water and asked that all residents be contacted in advance of water outages going forward,” Cllr Kelly said.
