The Donegal Association is seeking nominations from several categories for the ‘Above and Beyond’ Awards.

The awards held as a mark of appreciation and admiration for the work of Donegal people and community groups who go above and beyond, particularly over the last year.

Chairperson of the Donegal Association Dublin, Kevin McFadden said they want to acknowledge the work of people who have made a difference.

He said “There are so many remarkable people and groups across our county and we want to acknowledge some of these individuals for the amazing contribution they make to society at a family, local or countywide level.

“We are always blown away by the amazing people working quietly in local communities and who give so much back and we want to acknowledge the fantastic work that they do and look forward to reading your nominations.”

The categories include:

(A) Youth Award for a person under the age of 21
(B) Group Award for a community group
(C) Frontline Hero Award for someone who has gone over and above during the pandemic. E.G. Nurse, retail worker, postman, Garda etc.
(D) Carer Award

The entries will open on Monday, 29th of March and remain open until Friday, 16th of April.

You may nominate your person/group by emailing info@donegalassociation.ie putting the category in the subject line of the email and including the reasons for nomination.

The awards will be presented by our current Donegal Person of the Year, Noel Cunningham, when it is safe to do so or in a virtual way.

“It has been unfortunate that we have been unable to see so many familiar faces and host our events recently but we look forward to seeing you all soon again. As always, thank you for your continued support of our initiatives,” said a spokesperson.
