JOSH McPaul was the first user of the new beach wheelchair which arrived at Maghery Beach this week.

Josh, who lives a stone’s throw from the beach, went for a stroll will his family and will be one of many to benefit from the new beach wheelchair.

The wheelchair arrived on Wednesday and was funded as part of the Town & Village Renewal Scheme.

“The community of Maghery received a welcome boost with the addition of its own new Beach Wheelchair,” Hugh Gerard Boyle of Ionad an Mhachaire said.

“This fantastic piece of equipment gives access to areas that most people simply take for granted.

“The Beach Wheelchair will be kept in the Ionad an Mhachaire and will be made available to those who require it.”

The beach wheelchair is one part of the scheme for which the local community development group and community centre, An Machaire Le Cheile/Ionad an Mhachaire, are receiving funding from The Department of Rural and Community Affairs and Donegal County Council.

The Beach Wheelchair will soon be available for the public to book. For further information call the Ionad an Mhachaire on 074 9522724.”
