Killygordon and Crossroads get a “Spring clean’

A very successful community spring clean took place in and around the villages of Killygordon and Crossroads at the weekend.

On what was a beautiful, sunny day last Saturday, a number of small teams managed to lift a pram, fish tank and a wardrobe, among other items, during their annual cleanup.

While there were many more ‘disposable’ coffee cups and masks this year, the majority of the litter appears to be plastic drinks bottles and sweet wrappers.

Some of the items gathered during Saturday’s spring clean.

The event, organised by Crossroads and Killygordon Enterprise (CAKE), was held at short notice. As a result, another litter pickup will be held on Saturday, April 17. Anyone interested in taking part is asked to be at the CAKE Centre from 10:30 am.

The organisers would like to thank the local Donegal County Council Litter Warden, Caroline Meehan, for all her help in organising last weekend’s cleanup. They would also like to extend their gratitude to all the volunteers who turned out on Saturday.

For further information and updates, keep an eye on the CAKE Facebook page.
