The HSE website is seeing a large volume of traffic this morning as the vaccine portal opens for people aged 69.
The online registration system opened after 10am, with hundreds waiting in queues for their turn.
People in this cohort will be vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The HSE is asking people to register on specific days in order to manage demand. Today, registration is for those aged 69, tomorrow it will be for people aged 68, and the system will continue until Monday, when 65-year-olds are asked to register.
Anyone aged 65-69 can register now, but appointments will be assigned by age. “It doesn’t matter how quickly you register. You won’t get your vaccine any sooner if you register earlier,” said the HSE
