DONEGAL cyclist Mitchell McLaughlin is nearing a debut race with his new team, SwiftCarbon Pro.
It is expected that McLaughlin will ride in a race in Netherlands in June while the team is also gearing for the Tour of Britain in September.
Drumkeen man McLaughlin is on a training camp in Yorkshire at the moment with his new team, who featured on BBC Look North this week.
Team SwiftCarbon continue as a UCI Continental Team for the 2021 season, racing in some top events across Europe.
Earlier this year, McLaughlin said: “There are some serious big pro races that I will hopefully be riding in 2021.
“This year was a really tough year. Only for friends, family, sponsors, my coach and my team I would not be here today with my new team.”
The team undergo strict anti-Covid measures at training as they step up their preparations for the new season.
In October, Mclaughlin won the Under-23 bronze medal in the time trial at the National Road Race Championships, held at Knockaderry in Limerick.
McLaughlin was with Zappi Racing in Italy for 2020, but the campaign was badly interrupted by Covid-19.
He finished 30th in a time trial and 50th in a race in his first event post-Lockdown, held at the F1 track in Imola, the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari
Prior to returning home, McLaughlin came second and 13th in an Extrgiro event in Faenza.
