GARDAÍ believe that recent damage at Ballymacool Park in Letterkenny has been caused by a group of young teenagers.

On Saturday evening, at around 8.30pm, Gardaí and the fire service responded to a fire in the park.

Gardaí believe that the blaze was started deliberately.

The fire caused damage to fencing and surrounding hedges and vegetation.

There have also been two incidents of criminal damage to the public toilets at Balllymacool Park, between 4-6pm on March 11 and between 3.30-5.30pm on April 6.

“Ballymacool Park is an invaluable asset to the town,’ Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh said.

“We appeal for people to come forward and appeal for parents to know where your child is with at all times.

“We are asking parents to talk to their children.”

Gardaí believe that the damage was caused by a group in the ‘early-mid teens’.
