The Old Summerhill College in Sligo was significantly damaged in an overnight fire.
Fire services were called to a roof fire at the former school building on Friday night.
Gardaí urged the public to stay away from the area while emergency services dealt with the incident. The fire was eventually brought under control last night.
The school building, built in the 19th century, had many Donegal students over the years.
The property is the subject of court proceedings related to an unfinished sale.
