Donegal is the coolest place to be as more warm sunny weather is promised this weekend.
Ireland could be in for the hottest day of the year so far this weekend with temperatures set to reach highs of 18C.
The north west will enjoy dry and sunny conditions today and tomorrow, but the nights will be chilly, with temperatures dropping to 0 and below freezing.
Despite the balmy weather, Met Eireann say Donegal really is the ‘coolest’. Malin Head recorded Ireland’s lowest air temperature on Friday – a cool 12.3°C. The maximum temperature in the country was registered at Mount Dillon, Co. Roscommon, where it reached 18.3°C. Sunshine levels yesterday ranged from 13.2hrs at Dublin Airport to 4.8hrs at Malin Head.
Many locals will be revisiting their favourite beaches over the coming days now that travel restrictions are lifted. Gardaí say they will be continuing high visibility patrols at public amenities, parks and beauty spots across the country this weekend to support public health regulations.
Gardaí are also asking the public to please park legally when visiting scenic areas.
“Illegal parking can hinder access by emergency services and could put lives at risk. As we saw during previous weekends, people who illegally park are at risk of having their cars towed and impounded,” a spokesperson said.
