Health officials have confirmed that another person with Covid-19 has died in Ireland.
429 new cases of the virus were reported to NPHET today.
County-specific data has not been released this weekend.
Of the cases notified today:
- 234 are men and 182 are women
- 78% are under 45 years of age
- the median age is 29 years old
The death toll is Ireland is now 4,873, while there have been a total of 246,633 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
As of 8am today, 174 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 45 are in ICU. There have been 13 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
This includes fourteen patients in Letterkenny University Hospital, where one new hospitalisation was confirmed in the past day. One patient with Covid-19 was recorded as critical at LUH last night.
The latest update on vaccines reports that, as of last Friday (23 April) there have been 1,359,921 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
- 966,611 people have received their first dose
- 393,310 people have received their second dose
