Gardaí appeal to public to secure cars after theft incidents

GARDAÍ have urged the public to make sure their cars are securely locked following separate incidents of theft in Donegal this week.

Gardaí in Buncrana are probing a theft from a car at Bridge Street, Carndonaghn between 4.45pm and 8.45pm on Saturday, April 24.

A black River Island handbag with a badge and gold chain was taken. the handbag contained a large sum of cash.

The car had been left unlocked at the time.

Letterkenny Gardaí are investigating the theft of four wind visors from a car at An Gleann Rua, Killylastin between 10pm on Saturday and 10.30am on Sunday.

A Garda spokesperson said: “We would appeal to people to remember to lock their cars. That even applies when it is on their own property, or when they’re out and about. Always secure the car and check that it is locked. Never leave anything of value in the car.”
