Daniel O’Donnell has put himself on a chocolate detox programme over fears that he was munching too much of it during lockdown.
The Donegal entertainer is currently living in Tenerife after moving out to his holiday home with wife Majella in January.
Daniel revealed he is partial to chocolate and crisps but had to quit recently after realising he was over-indulging.
He said “My downfall is chocolate. Give me a box of Guylian Sea Shells and I could eat the lot.
“I also love Dairy Milk but a couple of weeks ago I realised I was eating almost a bar a day so I put myself on a chocolate detox.
“I love crisps too, especially Pringles, which are delicious if you eat them with chocolate.”
Daniel told ’24 hours on My Plate’ that he never drinks tea or coffee and stays away from all dairy as he doesn’t like taste of it.
He admits he is not a big eater but when he goes out to dine he likes to visit Chinese restaurants.
Exercising is his way of making sure that all those calories from chocolate and crisps remain off.
Daniel said he has been lucky in both lockdowns that he was able to get out an exercise in both his native Donegal and now in the sunshine of his sun-killed holiday island.
He added “I’ve been fortunate during lockdown that I spent the first one in Ireland where there was plenty of space, and we were able to go for walks without seeing anyone.
“The latest one in Tenerife has also been okay as the weather has been so good we can enjoy the sunshine.”
Despite being so far away Daniel said he still keeps in touch with home every day and even catches up with his local bridge club by playing online with friends in Donegal.
