Watch: “It’s exactly where we thought we’d be” – Ollie Horgan on Finn Harps’ tough run

OLLIE Horgan isn’t too surprised that Finn Harps have hit a sticky run of form.

The Finn Harps manager has been here before.

After a promising start to 2021, Horgan’s men are off the back of three games without a goal as they get ready to welcome champions Shamrock Rovers to Finn Park on Friday night.

Harps go to Derry City on Monday before hosting Bohemians next weekend.

“Three weeks ago, we were all chatting about something different,” Horgan told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub. 

“It’s exactly where we thought we’d be. It’s never easy in the Premier Division. We’ve tried to explain that to people over the years and some chose to listen, some maybe not.”

Horgan pointed back to 2016 when his newly-promoted Harps lost nine in a row before a missed penalty by Raffaele Cretaro, then of Sligo Rovers, meant the Donegal side took a point from an away game at The Showgrounds.

Horgan said: “It’s a concern, but we went eight games without scoring, which was great.

“The reality is, can we stay in the Division.

“We went nine games that year and didn’t get a point. We kicked on and stayed up. Is it a concern that we’ve conceded two goals? Yes, it is. They’re all concerns, but it’s Shamrock Rovers on Friday night that matters.”
