Two women have been rescued after being surrounded by the tide off Portnablagh this evening.
The women were out walking after 6pm when they became trapped by incoming water.
They managed to climb onto some rocks and the emergency services were called.
A number of rescue services were scrambled including the Mulroy Coastguard boat and support jeep.
The Rescue 118 helicopter based in Sligo was also scrambled and was on the scene in support.
The women were plucked from the rocks by members of the Mulroy Coastguard.
The women were assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not suffer any injuries.
The operation was coordinated by the Malin Head Coastguard Radio station
