A YOUNG Carn man has appeared in court charged with allegedly punching his ex-girlfriend in a local nightclub.
Darragh Kearney, of 28 Balmain, was charged with assault and assault causing harm to the woman at Tul na Rí, Carn, on October 28, 2019.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told Judge Paul Kelly that Kearney punched the woman using his fist and that there was photographic evidence of the injuries to her face.
Just Kelly asked were there any scars on the injured party, adding that the bruising was in a very visible position.
Sgt Collins said the victim told him she was ‘bruised for a while’ and claimed she had been ‘punched a number of times in the face.’
However, Judge Kelly said he needed to see more evidence in relation to any possible permanent scarring on her face.
He adjourned the matter to the June 15 sitting of the court to allow the Gardai produce photographic evidence of the victim’s injuries.
