A local councillor has described as ‘heartwarming’ the sight of so many people out around Donegal this morning for the annual Darkness into Light event for Pieta House.
Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly was out and about in Letterkenny with his wife Aislinn, son Donal jnr and his mother Jackie.
“I just want to say it was absolutely heartwarming to see so many people still do the walk this morning to raise awareness and to see everyone sticking to government guidelines and staying in their own pods – social distancing was absolutely great,” Cllr Kelly said.

He added it was a prime example this morning that the people of Donegal are doing everything in their power and adhering to the guidelines.
“I also want to commend An Garda Siochana who drove the route and gave every walker and runner encouragement with a beep of the horn and a flash of the blue lights it was great to see.
Now I suppose, more than ever, is a very challenging time for people and this morning was great to see the people raising awareness and contributing their bit to Pieta House.”
