TRIBUTES have poured in for Danny Gormley, the former Donegal Rally Clerk of the Course, who passed away yesterday evening.

A long-standing member of the Donegal Motor Club and Maiden City Motor Club, the late Mr Gormley is remembered as a ‘gentleman of Irish rallying’.

Heartfelt tributes have been paid by club members, officials and competitors, all of whom had universal respect and love for a man who devoted his life to the sport.

Danny filled many roles from marshal to COC at motorsport events in the north west.

One DMC member said: “Danny was the definition of a clubman who worked tirelessly for rallying.”

Danny’s meticulous planning and professionalism shone through, even in difficult times.

After handing over the COC baton to Eamon McGee, Danny remained, even as he battled an illness, an integral cog in the organisational wheels of various events, including the Donegal International Rally.
