The Milford local electoral area has once again recorded Ireland’s highest Covid-19 rate, despite vast levels of improvement in the county.
As positive action continues in local communities, new figures from the HSE show that five of the seven LEAs in Donegal are above the average incidence rate.
Milford, Letterkenny and Lifford-Stranorlar have all been listed in among the ten highest incidence rates in Ireland for the past fortnight.
Letterkenny has managed to drop its 14-day incidence rate from 547 per 100,000 last week to 366, while the Milford rate has decreased from 683 to 472 per 100,000.
Case numbers are down in five areas, while the Donegal LEA and Lifford-Stranorlar LEA registered rising numbers in the past two weeks.
The Donegal public’s efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 were praised by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly yesterday, who said the seven-day rate is 112, which at less than 1/2 the 14 day rate, suggests that the rate is continuing to fall.
