Donegal has come in for some welcome praise as the incidence of Covid continues to drop across the county.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan’s remarks about recent spikes of the virus in the country brought with it a huge amount of worrying attention.
But a community effort has now seen the rate of the virus drop in recent days.
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has even praised the efforts of locals.
He said the county no longer has the highest incidence of the disease in the country and it is continuing to fall.
Instead that ‘honour’ has fallen to Kildare.
In fact, the 14-day incidence in Donegal has fallen nearly six times faster than Kildare over the past week.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin also praised the efforts of the people of the county in the Dail yesterday.
