COVID-19 vaccination appointments are going ahead as normal this weekend, despite a major cyber attack on the HSE IT systems.
Online registration is back up and running for those aged 50-69.
The health executive is continuing to examine the extent of a breach of their IT systems yesterday.
The attack, believed to be carried out by an international group, has been described as “possibly the most significant cyber crime attack on the Irish State”.
The HSE took all IT systems offline, while it is still not yet known whether patient data has been accessed or breached. It is expected to take a number of days before all IT systems are restored.
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), HSE, gardaí and external IT contractors and working on investigations this weekend. The NCSC is also engaging with EU and other international partners to share information on this incident and to ensure that the HSE has immediate access to international cyber supports.
