THE Government is to propose a new housing plan that will have up to 50 per cent of future estates reserved for first-time buyers.
Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien is to present a plan to the Cabinet this week.
A large percentage of new developments are to be reserved for social and affordable housing as well as first-time buyers.
Today’s Sunday Independent reports that the plan is also expected to deal with the bulk sale of estates to investment trusts.
At the moment, developments have to provide 10 per cent of the houses for social housing and a further 10 per cent for affordable housing.
The new measures will not apply to developments that have already been approved.
