ANOTHER 524 case of Covid-19 were confirmed in Ireland today.

No county-by-county breakdown is available due to the recent ransomware attack on the HSE systems.

There are 107 patients in Ireland’s hospitals receiving treatment for Covid-19, with 38 of those in intensive care settings.

The data is subject to future validation.

There are 72 confirmed cases of the Indian variant, which Dr Tony Holohan, the Chief Medical Officer, says could ‘pose a risk to the progress we have made.’

Dr Holohan said: “NPHET will keep a close eye on this as we move towards the end of May and consider the advice we need to provide to Government”
